Admin note: I just wanted to let you guys know how sorry I am for letting this site get so out-of-date. I’ve gotten so many messages about how it’s everyone’s favorite place to get Amanda news (or was I guess) and that makes me so happy to hear. I really want to make this site the best place for Amanda news again. In an effort to make this place your one stop shop for all things Amanda, there’s a new staff member here at ATO. She compiled this update of all the things I haven’t updated you on this year.
What has Amanda been up to this year, so far?
The year started with an interview Sabrina Furminger held with Amanda. In it Amanda talks about her latest projects but also about struggles as a woman in the film industry. It’s a wonderful interview, go read it here.
In January she directed the episode “A Most Holy Man” (13.15) of Supernatural. She talked at ATX about how she made the guys wear suits during the whole episode: “I wanted to look at them looking nice.”
Photo from the set:
In February, she directed a yet unknown number of episodes of Anne with an E. Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on July 6, 2018 and on CBC on September 23, 2018
Some related posts from her:
Well underway for prep on @AnneTheSeries!?

Location scouting earlier in the week for @AnneTheSeries I liked the two kissing street cars. They seemed happy in their old age. #lifegoals pic.twitter.com/7MQMwGyWIK

During March she was again on the set of Supernatural to shoot an episode, this time in front of the camera (13.19, Funeralia). Naomi is back!
#SPNFamily @amandatapping & @NLopezCorrado Decisive. Collaborative. A clear vision with an infective positive energy empowering the crew. I absolutely ADORE these two directors! #kickassprofessionals pic.twitter.com/XbsuPPoYmp

March was a special month for Stargate fans. Joseph Malozzi initiated several twitter storms for fans to show MGM that there is still interest in Stargate. #StargateRising did trend in several countries and temporarily even worldwide. Amanda as well as several other actors from the SG franchise joined the twitter storm. Her tweets:
#StargateRising what??!! You guys are so cool.

In April, Amanda was in London for the convention ATX. It was the last convention by GABIT Events in this format (with Amanda as only guest) but the conventions will go on with Amanda and some other guest, in about two years. The total of the weekend raised for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and Sanctuary for Kids was £47,000.
It was here where Amanda officially announced that Sanctuary for Kids will be closing by the end of the year. The plan for S4K is to divide this last wave of donations between the charities. That way all of them will be left with a financial safety cushion/safety net. While that was a particularly sad piece of information (you guys have helped my fundraising partner and I raise over $15,000 for S4K), that just means we’ll have to think up some amazing fundraisers for this new charity.
Right after the convention, she went to the set of Travelers where she’s been directing four episodes of season 3, as well as, acting in an unknown number of episodes. Thanks to several members of the cast being active on twitter and instagram, we got some lovely photos and videos of Amanda on the set.

Amanda participated in a fundraiser, Straight out of Sci Fi on May 27 in Vancouver. The fundraising is for Luke, a boy with severe Acquired Aplastic Anemia (AAA) which is a rare, life-threatening bone marrow disease. The event raised $5,638 and the gofundme fundraiser is still going on
Our event #straightoutofscifi may be over but we want to remind you that you can still give. Give blood. Give life. Give financially. @itsinyoutogive #gofundme https://t.co/DYfZIbrJgx ? @robtrendiak pic.twitter.com/h1Jb4iRVAw

Another fundraising event will happen on the 4th of July, this time for KIND (Kids In Need of Defense), which provides legal services to migrant children, and Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services, which works to ensure the rights, safety, well-being and spirit of Aboriginal children, and strives to eliminate oppression, discrimination and marginalization within their community.
July 4th! Come and hear some amazing performers, and let’s raise ?for @supportKIND & VACFSS.
