So sorry I’ve been quiet lately I’ve been swamped with work, the good news is that I haven’t missed much news and the even better news is I’ve got three projects to announce that will help raise money for Sanctuary for Kids. I’ll be announcing two at a later date and today it’s the Bricks and Blocks campaign.
For those of you that have been aware of Sanctuary for Kids for sometime, this is the third year for Bricks and Blocks. We’ve successfully built two houses so we’re giving it another try this year. For those of you unaware of the Bricks and Blocks campaign, visit the S4K website to learn all about it. This may just be my favorite charity project for S4K because it’s a big group effort. It just goes to show what we can accomplish if we pull together.
Today we are launching our Bricks and Blocks Fundraising Campaign and it could not come at a better time. The devastation in the Philippines is massive and we want to help. The death count of 3800 continues to rise and more than nine million people have been affected, including 1,871,321 who have been displaced. All donations that come in for the next two weeks will go the relief effort through Save the Children Canada. In addition, Sanctuary for Kids will add $6000 to this initiative. In addition, the Canadian Government will be matching these donations.
I took suggestions on facebook and twitter for house names and went with Mahal House. Mahal means love in Tagalog, the native language of the Philippines. I thought it was appropriate because all donations received by December 1 will be sent to Save The Children Canada to help their relief efforts in the Philippines. All those donations will also be matched by the Canadian Government, meaning we’ll have raised twice as much.
When you make your donations to Sanctuary for Kids, please put that it’s for Mahal House. All we need is $2,000 and we’ll see our virtual house in it’s virtual village.
Let’s get building!
